why do yoga?

It’s not about standing on your head (though it does feel great)!

The Health Benefits of Yoga:

  • Improves flexibility and muscle strength
  • Lowers blood pressure & blood sugar
  • Improves your balance
  • Improves sleep quality
  • Eases chronic pain
  • Improves posture
  • Improves bone, joint and spine health
  • Helps to increase mental focus, coordination, memory and reaction time
  • Can help to ease symptoms of IBS and digestive disorders
  • Regulates the adrenals, lowering cortisol, the hormone connected to depression, chronic stress, high blood pressure and insulin resistance.
  • Cultivate and encourage self care, better eating and sleeping habits, more focus and concentration, more creative energy and an overall deeper satisfaction with our work, relationships and the life we are living overall.

When we rush, there’s a layer of anxiety on top of our movements. When we are always “on”, receiving and sending emails, text messages, scrolling through social media at 10pm, we are never really creating enough space to invite in quiet, to soften and still the mind a bit from so much thinking and worrying about all sorts of things. Yoga helps peel away the layers of chronic stress.
